Motor City Machine Guns’ Future Update After WWE Release

The future of Motor City Machine Guns has already started taking shape after their surprising WWE exit. It looks like their absence from the squared circle won’t remain for long. Their departure is part of a bigger list of WWE changes after WrestleMania 42. Some of the exits are believed to be contract endings rather than releases.

Other popular names leaving include The Wyatt Sicks, Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, Kairi Sane, Santos Escobar, Apollo Crews, and many more. WWE is making big changes, especially in its tag team and mid-card divisions. While another company looks to boost its tag team division.

Motor City Machine Guns expected to land in AEW following WWE exit

A recent report from Fightful Select says Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) will officially become free agents in July, once their WWE contracts end. Even after leaving, they are expected to stay busy, with several companies likely interested in signing them.

Sources from TNA have said that the duo is always welcome back there because of their history. But at the same time, they believe AEW could be their most likely next stop. There is no official deal yet. However, AEW had shown interest in them back in 2024, which adds to the rumors.

AEW had already made them an offer before they signed with WWE in October 2024. But WWE matched that offer and brought them in.

Motor City Machine Guns made an immediate impact in WWE. Just one week after debuting, Sabin and Shelley won the WWE Tag Team Championships by beating Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa on SmackDown. They are the first team to win major titles across multiple major promotions like TNA, ROH, and NJPW.

But after that strong start in WWE, things slowed down. They were part of a few storylines, including short feuds with #DIY and some involvement with the Wyatt Sicks group. Nevertheless, they were rarely used as top stars.

Reports also say both Sabin and Shelley wanted more chances to wrestle during their WWE run. Another sign of their exit was that they were not scheduled for recent SmackDown tapings, which suggested their release was already planned.

As of now, they are expected to keep wrestling regularly and also spend time on their band, GRPPLNG.
