Will Sergei Bobrovsky get his ask, and will it be with the Toronto Maple Leafs?
NHL Rumour Report: Nick Kypreos on Sergei Bobrovksy today on the Real Kyper & Bourne Show: “The last I heard was that he asked for a contract that had the length of 6 years and was looking at 40, 42 million; that’s the ballpark”
@Nylanderthews: Elliotte Friedman said on Oilers Now that he thinks Bobrovsky will sign with the Maple Leafs.
NHL Rumors: Kirill Marchenko, Zach Werenski, Rasmus Andersson, and John Carlson
Using the Toronto Maple Leafs as an example, what it would take to acquire Zach Werenski
Daily Faceoff: Marco D’Amico on what the Columbus Blue Jackets will be looking to get in return for Zach Werenski. If you’re looking at it from the Toronto Maple Leafs side of things, the Blue Jackets are likely wanting to start with Matthew Knies, Easton Cowan or Ben Danford, and a first-round pick.
Colby Cohen: “I think there’s a road map on Werensky, because Quinn Hughes was traded. So I think there is at least a road map on return for Werenski.
D’Amico: “I just don’t know that Don Waddell wants to use that same template. He does not want to know anything about prospects and picks. That’s what he’s telling everyone.
For example, Marchenko was the same concept. Any deal that the Canadians would put in place for Marchenko, you know, would be futures heavy, because that’s what they have. They’re they’re not at the point in their process where they have, you know, high-end expendable assets, like, say, I don’t know, a Dallas Stars or a Utah Mammoth, or like there are other teams that have a little bit more to offer that’s closer to the league or already in the league.
So that’s exactly the mindset that they’re going to be looking at with Werenski. Like, for example, Columbus, you know, you’re dealing with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Matthew Knies is what, four years into his NHL career? That makes more sense, right, as a centrepiece.
Potential Free Agent Targets for the Toronto Maple Leafs
That’s what I’m talking about, where you have a deal center, and I know, and I know the Leaf fans watching this are about to go bonkers here, but if you’re doing, like, Knies, you know, (Easton) Cowan or (Ben) Danford, and a first, you know, I think you get Don Waddell to perk up. Because, like, okay, now you have a top-end tangible asset locked in long-term that could, you know, come in.
And then you could utilize (Kirill) Marchenko if you want to go and get yourself the prime defenseman to play, to replace, to replace Werensky.
