April 29, 2026 — A domineering performance in the NCL’s women’s division

Over the last two weekends in Columbia, Md., the Next Collegiate Lacrosse leagues have been crowning champions.

This is the third year for the women’s division, which plays the Sixes lacrosse discipline, but with a significant twist. The women in this sport play exactly the same as the men do: with gloves, pads, helmets, and the men’s deep-pocketed stick.

And if the goal difference was any indication, Hampton University didn’t have any trouble adjusting to the rules package. The Pirates outscored their league opposition 83-1.

This is not a misprint. I had to go over the league fixture to confirm. And yes, Hampton was able to shut out four of its five opponents in the round-robin portion of the competition. The only goal the Pirates conceded was in a 23-1 win over Norfolk State.

The dominance continued for Hampton last Sunday for the championship, as they won the final by a score of 18-1.

Hampton has had a great history in NCL play in its three-year lifespan. The Pirates have made the championship all three times, winning the title in 2025 and 2026.
