Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen delivered a match-winning performance to help his side register a dominant six-wicket win over Mumbai Indians (MI) in their IPL 2026 clash at the Wankhede Stadium on April 30.

While chasing a massive target of 244 runs, Klaasen hammered a stunning unbeaten 65 off just 30 balls. Coming in after SRH lost two consecutive wickets, he built the innings with seven boundaries and four maximums at a strike rate of 216.66.

During the post-match presentation, Player of the Match Klaasen reflected on his approach during the chase. “Big gap at cow corner so had to take a risk early,” he said. “Wicket was good. They had a quality bowling attack, so had to take a chance and see if we could make light work of it. The left shoulder gave me some issues, so I am not as strong over cow corner. Slinger is feeding me a lot of balls, so it is going nicely. (On if he is feeling invincible) Not at all. Humble. New day tomorrow.”

SRH openers Travis Head (76) and Abhishek Sharma (45) added a 129-run opening stand in just 8.4 overs.

Speaking about it, Klaasen added, “It’s always fun, you can feel them putting the bowlers under pressure. If they are going, it makes your job easier.”

Klaasen was well supported by Salil Arora, who added a quick unbeaten 30 at a strike rate of 300. Reflecting on their on-field conversation during the chase, he revealed, “I told him that he does not have to worry. He asked me if he could hit it (when 11 were needed off 12) and I said yes—finish the game. Incredible to see him do it on the big stage, and we see it every day in the nets. Happy to see how his career is going.”

With this win, SRH now stand in third spot with 12 points in nine games (six wins and three losses). After this match-winning knock, Klaasen has now scored 414 runs in nine innings, averaging 59.14 at a strike rate of 157.41, and currently stands second in the Orange Cap race.

SRH will now face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on May 3 in Hyderabad.
