Ottawa Senators Arthur Kaliyev looking for a fresh start
Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts: The Podcast – The picks are in episode, on Ottawa Senators AHL forward Arthur Kaliyev.
“Someone told me that 40 goal scorer in the American Hockey League, Arthur Kaliyev won’t be staying in Ottawa, he’ll be a free agent. Tough year for Kaliyev. Cleared now by the NHL. See if he gets a fresh start somewhere.”
The Minnesota Wild have some decisions to make and some potential holes to fill
Michael Russo and Joe Smith of The Athletic: The Minnesota Wild are eyeing Detroit Red Wings Dylan Larkin. Wings GM Steve Yzerman hasn’t liked the Wild’s offers so far. The Wild will keep trying to acquire him.
The Wild could have some holes in their top nine with the possible loss of Mats Zuccarello, Vladimir Tarasenko and Marcus Johansson. Those three put 53 goals and 150 points combined. Tarasenko will be looking for more money than the Wild are willing to do.
Feels like the Wild are okay with moving on from Zuccarello, and sources say he’s not happy with how things have gone. The Wild are wanting Kirill Kaprizov to get away from Zuccarello’s East-West hockey and to start to build chemistry with other players.
Patrick Kane would seem like a good Zuccarello replacement, maybe Claude Giroux. Other potential UFAs include Jaden Schwartz and/or Anders Lee.
If they were to land Larkin, Danila Yurov would likely be in the trade package.
The Wild are shopping Yakov Trenin, who has two years left at $3.5 million and Nico Sturm, who has a year left at $2 million. If either is dealt, maybe they re-sign Nick Foligno at a reasonable price. Other potential trade candidates are Ryan Hartman ($4 million), Jonas Brodin ($6 million) and Jared Spurgeon ($7.575 million). Jake Middleton ($4.35 million) and Marcus Foligno ($4 million) have no-trade clauses after July 1st.
The Wild would like to re-sign Zach Bogosian.
Cap charges: $90,330,833

Projected salary cap for 2026-27: $104 million
