Summer is right around the corner—and in junior golf, that means one thing: it’s go time.
This is the stretch where players separate themselves. Not because they suddenly become someone new, but because they show up prepared. The ones who took care of business in the spring are the ones who step into summer confident, aggressive, and ready to perform.
Let me be clear on this—your technical work should be done by mid-May.
That doesn’t mean you’re perfect. It means your swing thoughts are simplified, your fundamentals are in place, and you trust what you’ve built. Summer is not the time to rebuild your swing. Summer is the time to compete, score, and win.
Lock It In Now… So You Can Let It Go Later
Right now, your focus should be tightening everything up:
- Clean fundamentals
- Clear feels and keys
- Confidence in your ball flight
Once we hit mid-May, we shift gears.
Less mechanical thinking.
More reacting, competing, and scoring.
The goal?
Step on the first tee this summer and feel like you’re ready to fire on all cylinders.
Use the Longer Days to Your Advantage
Summer gives you something you don’t get the rest of the year—time.
Longer days = more opportunity.
But here’s where most players miss… they hit more balls, but they don’t get better.
Be intentional.
- Get in extra reps—but make them purposeful
- Spend time on your weaknesses
- Build a short game that travels under pressure
And most importantly…
Get On The Course and Learn How to Score
You don’t learn how to shoot low scores on the range.
You learn it on the golf course. This summer, prioritize:
- Playing more rounds
- Practicing on the course (not just the range)
- Learning how to manage your game
Go out and test it.
Figure out:
- What shots show up under pressure
- Where you miss
- How to recover and save shots
That’s how scoring improves.
Make It Competitive. Make It Fun.
Some of the best growth happens when you’re just out there competing with your friends.
Play games:
- Match play
- Up-and-down challenges
- Putting competitions
Create pressure. Keep score. Talk a little trash.
This is where confidence is built.
And confidence is everything.
Compete Regularly—That’s Where the Real Growth Happens
If you want to take the next step, you have to compete.
That’s where Future Champions Golf comes in.
At FCG, we’ve built a platform where players can test their game against top competition in a fun, high-energy environment.
From local events to our biggest stages:
- The FCG International Championship
- The FCG Callaway World Junior Golf Championship
- The FCG National Championship
These are the events where players rise.
You’ll compete against players from all over the world, gain exposure, and most importantly—learn how to perform when it matters.
This Summer Is Your Opportunity
Every summer creates momentum.
The players who:
- Prepare now
- Compete often
- Stay consistent
…are the ones who walk into the fall with real confidence—and real results.
So ask yourself:
Are you still working on your swing?
Or are you getting ready to compete?
Because summer is almost here.
And when it arrives…
It’s time to go.
