ARCHIE AND IVAN TO TRAVEL TO ITALY WITH GB

Defenceman Archie Hazeldine and forward Ivan Björkly Nordström will be part of the Great Britain squad in Italy this weekend after Sean Norris had to withdraw because of injury.

Norris was injured in Thursday’s game in Milton Keynes and will now miss the World Championship in Switzerland which gets under way next weekend.

The decision on a replacement for Norris will be made in the coming days ahead of GB’s opening game of the tournament against Austria in Zurich next Saturday (16th May).

Head Coach, Pete Russell, said: “It’s a huge disappointment to lose Sean and we know how gutted he is. We all send him our best wishes.

“Archie and Ivan will travel with us to Italy and this is a great opportunity for them. We will make the final selection decision in the coming days to complete our 25-man squad.”

GB’s preparations continue with the final two matches of the four-game series against Italy.

The two sides will meet in Varese on Sunday 10th May (15:30 BST) and Tuesday 12th May (18:50 BST).

Both games can be followed via a live webcast which can be purchased here, with a special discounted option for a dual away-game package.

GB will face Austria, USA, Hungary, Switzerland, Finland, Latvia and Germany in the group stages of the World Championship at the 12,000-seater Swiss Life Arena in Zurich.

Group B – which is being held at the 9,000-seater BCF Arena in Fribourg, consists of Canada, Sweden, Czechia, Denmark, Slovakia, Norway, Slovenia and Italy.
