WWE has moved several top names into the free agent section on its official website.
In a recent update, WWE has moved AJ Lee, Nikki Bella, and the Women’s Tag Team Champions, Brie Bella and Paige, to the free agent section on its official website. The promotion had listed Lee and The Bella Twins as RAW talent before the change. They join Omos, Oba Femi, and Danhausen in the category.
Paige returned to WWE at WrestleMania 42, where she replaced an injured Nikki Bella to team with Brie Bella and win the Women’s Tag Team Championship. Nikki recently revealed a possible timeframe for her return from the ankle injury she sustained in March.
AJ Lee lost the Women’s Intercontinental Championship to Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 42 and teased a hiatus after the event. Later reports indicated that her creative plans were effectively completed. However, people within the company hope she will return to WWE for more matches and programs, with the possibility of her appearing at major events like SummerSlam.
Paige reveals her WWE return was based on two major conditions
Speaking to Stephanie McMahon on her What’s Your Story podcast, Paige revealed that WWE President Nick Khan had two conditions to have her return to the promotion: get her neck evaluated and pass a drug test.
“So [The Rock’s agent Brad Slater] calls Nick [Khan] and within 30 minutes Nick had said, ‘Sure, let’s get a meeting with her.’ So a week later he flies to LA to the WWE offices there, I went and met him for like 10 minutes. Great guy, love him, big fan of him. Super smart oh my gosh, he’s got a business brain on him. I thought I’d be intimidated by him but he’s easy going.
“He goes, ‘Two things: your neck needs to be ok and we have to do a drug test.’ I was like, ‘Fair enough.’ Hey, I can control the drug test I’m clean as a whistle. I don’t know how my neck’s been. It’s been a few years since I got it checked. Last time I got it checked it was perfect so I’m not really concerned about it.” (H/T WrestleTalk)
Paige had to fly to Birmingham, Alabama, for a series of tests before she got cleared to return at WWE WrestleMania 42.
