Rangers Announce Minor League Award Winners for April

TEXAS — The Texas Rangers announced their minor league award winners for April on Friday, highlighting standout performances across the organization’s developmental ranks.

Here is a look at the honorees:

Reliever of the Month: Michael Trausch, LHP

Left-hander Michael Trausch has been a model of consistency since debuting in 2024, but he appears to have reached a new level this season. The 2023 15th-round pick was untouchable in April, making seven appearances and tossing 15 scoreless innings.

Opponents are batting just .044 against the lefty. After spending a full season with High-A Hickory last year, Trausch is making a strong case for a promotion to continue his development. If he maintains this dominant trend, a move to the next level of competition seems imminent.

Defender of the Month: Frainyer Chavez, INF

Frainyer Chavez earned defensive honors for his versatility and reliable glove with Double-A Frisco. While Chavez has also been productive at the plate, his value on the diamond remains his calling card.

So far this season, Chavez has logged starts at third base (13), second base (5), shortstop (4), and first base (4). His only two miscues of the season resulted from errant throws at third and short. While his defensive metrics are strongest at second base, he has provided a steady presence at third base, where he is currently seeing the majority of his playing time.

Starting Pitcher of the Month: Dalton Pence, LHP

Left-hander Dalton Pence led the way for the rotation in April. The 2024 11th-round pick made four starts, posting a 3.10 ERA over 20 1/3 innings.

Pence’s statistics stood out among South Atlantic League qualifiers, where he ranked second in WHIP (0.79), fourth in opponent batting average (.187), and fifth in ERA (3.10). He also finished the month tied for ninth in the league with 25 strikeouts. Now in his second professional season, Pence is building on a successful 2025 campaign where he posted a 2.73 ERA across Low-A and High-A. If he continues to anchor the rotation, a promotion to Frisco could be on the horizon.

Player of the Month: Arturo Disla, INF

The 25-year-old showcased elite poise and bat-to-ball skills in April, slashing .372/.474/.654 with five home runs and 19 RBIs over 22 games.

Disla’s production dominated the South Atlantic League leaderboards. He finished the month ranked second in batting average (.372), on-base percentage (.474), and hits (29). He also ranked fourth in OPS (1.128) and fifth in slugging percentage (.654), total bases (51), and doubles (7). Additionally, he ranked sixth in the league in both RBIs (19) and extra-base hits (12).

A native of the Dominican Republic, Disla is off to a fast start as he looks to bounce back from a difficult 2025 campaign. Originally signed as an undrafted free agent in July 2023 out of Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas, Disla is quickly climbing the organizational ranks. If his bat continues to overpower High-A pitching, a promotion to Double-A Frisco could be on the horizon.
