Rey Fenix Seemingly Vents Frustration Over Lack of Opportunities in WWE

Rey Fenix may have just publicly called out WWE over his current booking situation — and he did it while reacting to his own brother’s latest championship defense announcement.

While Penta continues thriving on Monday Night RAW as WWE Intercontinental Champion, Fenix’s run on SmackDown has looked completely different ever since he arrived in WWE in 2025.

Penta has quickly become one of RAW’s biggest babyfaces, picking up major wins over stars like Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, and Kofi Kingston. He also retained the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 42 in a chaotic ladder match and is now set to defend the title against Ethan Page at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 23.

But while WWE promoted Penta’s upcoming title defense, Rey Fenix suddenly grabbed attention with a response that sounded like frustration over his own position in the company. Respond to WWE’s announcement post, Fenix took to Twitter and wrote:

“I love my brother, but i will like to have my chance. 🙌🏻 #AN1M0”

The tweet immediately got fans talking because Fenix has barely been featured on SmackDown lately despite arriving with major hype following his AEW exit. Since debuting, Fenix has lost roughly half of his matches and has not captured a singles championship. Even more noticeable, he currently isn’t involved in any major storyline on the blue brand.

In fact, Fenix’s last proper televised WWE match took place back in February on SmackDown, where he lost to Trick Williams. That long absence from meaningful television makes his social media reaction stand out even more, especially while his brother continues getting heavily featured every week on RAW as one of the company’s breakout success stories of 2026.

At this point, it’s unclear whether Fenix’s tweet was legitimate frustration or simply shooting his shot at the Intercontinental Championship. Either way, fans immediately noticed the contrast between how WWE has handled Penta versus how Rey Fenix has been used since arriving.

Bottom line: Penta’s WWE run keeps getting bigger, but Rey Fenix is now openly making it known that he wants opportunities too — and his public reaction has suddenly put a focus on how differently WWE has treated the two brothers so far.

Do you think WWE should start pushing Rey Fenix more seriously on SmackDown, or has Penta simply separated himself as the bigger singles star right now? Leave your thoughts and feedback below.
