AEW Has Real Interest in Mick Foley as WWE Legends Contract Nears End

Mick Foley may be much closer to an AEW appearance than many expected, as the company has shown interest in working with the Hardcore Legend.

According to The Takedown on Sports Illustrated, multiple sources say All Elite Wrestling has expressed “real” interest in working with Foley in 2026 as his WWE Legends contract approaches its expiration next month.

That is the biggest news yet regarding Foley’s future. While no deal is confirmed, the report states that AEW’s interest is genuine, though it remains unclear whether the company is considering a full signing or simply a one-time appearance.

The report also notes that the exact stage of discussions is unknown. It is not clear whether conversations have moved beyond initial inquiries, but the possibility of Foley appearing in AEW is now being taken seriously.

Timing could play a major role. AEW is currently building toward AEW Double or Nothing 2026, which will take place in Flushing, New York, roughly an hour from where Foley grew up on Long Island.

That geographic connection has fueled additional speculation, especially since fellow Long Island native MJF is scheduled to headline the event against Darby Allin for the AEW World Championship.

One source told The Takedown they had no direct knowledge of Foley being planned for the show, but said they would not be surprised if there were an effort to bring him in if a deal could be reached.

This comes as Foley prepares to let his WWE Legends contract expire in June 2026. Foley previously announced he would not renew the agreement due to his disagreement with WWE’s continued ties to Donald Trump.

Foley has never appeared for AEW, despite working for nearly every major wrestling promotion in the world. However, Tony Khan has long admired Foley, and it was previously said that there has always been a possibility of AEW using him in an on-screen role. Foley also revealed in the past that MJF once pitched a six-week storyline that nearly convinced him to come out of retirement.

Bottom line: nothing is officially confirmed yet, but AEW’s interest in Mick Foley appears legitimate — and with Double or Nothing approaching in Foley’s home region, speculation about a possible appearance is only getting louder.
