The Packers will look to unseat the Chicago Bears in the NFC North this season, and Green Bay’s 2026 slate will make some history with a built in advantage along the way.
While Green Bay comes up just on the short end of the rest-differential, which measures how often a team is playing on shorter rest than its opponent, the NFL schedule makers did hand the Packers a late-season edge.
Packers’ schedule features history, a frigid finish
According to the team’s official website, the Packers and Bills will meet at Lambeau Field, in prime time, for the first time ever this season, and there will also be a cold, cold finish to Green Bay’s slate.
“The Packers will play outdoors during their final five games of the regular season,” Wes Hodkiewicz points out. “Four at home (Buffalo, Miami, Houston and Detroit) and the Christmas Day matchup in Chicago.
“It’s the first time the Bills have played at Lambeau Field in primetime. It’s also the first time since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger that the Packers will host three AFC teams in December/January.”
As Hodkiewicz points out, few teams have been more effective in cold weather than the Packers, especially under LaFleur, who is 38-12 at Lambeau Field.
If the tundra is frozen down the stretch, it could be a big edge on Green Bay’s road to a playoff return.
