Call Up – Diamond Notes by Joe Boesch

Call Up – Diamond Notes by Joe Boesch

The Mets are clawing their way out of the NL East cellar and hopefully are playing to win and move up in the standings. Everyone on the Mets has pitched in between hitting, pitching, and fielding plays that have not gone unnoticed. Recent call-up A. J. Ewing hit his first home run, which propelled the Mets to sweep the Tigers. With that, Ewing now has a Topps Now card commemorating his call-up.

Here’s his story:

A.J. Ewing couldn’t have picked a better spot to hit his first career big-league homer, fueling the New York Mets series-sweeping 9-4 win against Detroit. The team’s top prospect slugged a 405-foot solo shot to right field, putting his team on the scoreboard in the third inning. “That was really cool,” Ewing said postgame. “The first homer, that was awesome.”

Until then, see you at the park.
