Paul Wight is apparently not going anywhere anytime soon. Even though the former WWE giant has barely been seen in recent months, AEW quietly locked him into a fresh contract to keep him with the company.
According to Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp, AEW sources confirmed that Wight’s deal was set to expire earlier this year. However, it is now believed that he agreed to a new contract to remain with All Elite Wrestling.
At this point, there is still no word on how long the new agreement lasts, but the belief internally is that Wight remains firmly under contract with AEW.
Wight previously stated during an interview that he planned to spend the final years of his wrestling career in AEW. While he has never fully ruled out stepping back into the ring, there have been very few updates regarding any possible in-ring return recently.
Since joining AEW in 2021, Wight has worked in multiple backstage and on-screen roles for the company, including commentary, interviews, special appearances, and occasional wrestling matches.
