AJ Styles found some pretty strange information about himself online, and he made it clear he was not letting it slide.
During the latest episode of The Phenomenally Retro Podcast, Styles reacted to inaccurate details connected to his wrestling history, including a completely fake ring name listed on his Wikipedia page. Styles first brought up how inaccurate some online match records are when it comes to the early part of his career.
“I saw a breakdown of all the matches that I’ve ever had and I’m like, ‘That’s totally wrong. That’s way off.’ You wouldn’t even know. How would you ever know that I only wrestled two matches in ‘99? I wrestled way more than that.”
Things got even more confusing once Styles and co-host Tony Giles started looking deeper into the information listed online. That’s when Styles noticed Wikipedia claimed he once wrestled under the name “Jason Styles.”
“There we go. Wikipedia. Let’s see names. Jason Styles. What? I’ve never been Jason Styles. When? Where? Why? So, that’s another thing right there.”
Giles joked that they were going to correct Wikipedia after spotting the mistake. Styles has wrestled all over the world during his legendary career across WWE, TNA, NJPW, ROH, and the independent scene, so it is not shocking that some information online may get mixed up over time. Still, Styles clearly had no idea where “Jason Styles” even came from.
What’s the weirdest false wrestling fact you’ve ever seen online, and should wrestlers pay more attention to correcting things like Wikipedia entries? Drop your thoughts and feedback in the comments below.
