NARAKU Reveals Real Reason He Left NJPW for WWE

NARAKU has already made a huge impact since arriving in WWE, and now the former NJPW star is openly explaining exactly why he decided to make the jump in the first place.

After debuting during the April 28 episode of WWE NXT by confronting Tony D’Angelo in the middle of the mystery box storyline, the former EVIL quickly established himself as one of NXT’s newest featured stars. He later officially adopted the WWE name “NARAKU” and followed that up with a dominant in-ring debut victory on the May 12 edition of NXT.

Now, while speaking to Tokyo Sports, NARAKU revealed that his decision to leave New Japan Pro-Wrestling and join WWE was not simply connected to his wife IYO SKY already working there.

When asked whether he still would have made the move even without SKY being in WWE, Naraku made it clear he already felt he had accomplished everything possible in Japan.

“I’ve already made the Japanese pro-wrestling world my own. In that sense, I think that possibility was quite real.”

Naraku then gave an incredibly direct answer when explaining exactly why WWE became the destination he wanted next: “Money, status, and fame.”

The comments also come only hours after IYO SKY publicly announced that she and Naraku are officially married after years together. SKY later explained the couple finally decided to go public with their relationship because they are now both part of WWE together.

Bottom line: Naraku says his decision to leave NJPW for WWE was not simply tied to IYO SKY being there already — he believes he already conquered Japanese wrestling and ultimately chose WWE for “money, status, and fame.”

Do you think Naraku can become a major WWE main event player after dominating NJPW, or will the transition to WWE style end up being more difficult than expected? Leave your thoughts and feedback below.
