Chris Jericho Claims Ricochet Became A Bigger Star After AEW Feud With Him

Chris Jericho believes his recent AEW program with Ricochet helped elevate the former WWE star to another level.

While appearing on Ringer Wrestling’s The Masked Man Show, Jericho spoke about working with Ricochet for the first time and addressed criticism surrounding his role in AEW storylines. According to Jericho, one of his biggest goals has always been helping opponents grow through their feuds together. Jericho explained that he enjoys stepping into the ring with wrestlers he has never previously worked with because it creates fresh opportunities creatively.

“It’s great to go in there with Ricochet. We’d never crossed paths before.”

The former AEW World Champion then pushed back against online criticism and said his intentions with every feud are centered around elevating the other wrestler involved.

“My goal is always to build my opponent. Always. And I think if you look and you really know the business, you can see that with everybody that I’ve been in the ring with.”

Jericho specifically pointed to Ricochet as someone he feels gained momentum through their work together over the last few months.

“I think the stuff Ricochet and I have done over the last couple months has been amazing and I think he’s a way bigger name now than he was on March 30th.”

Jericho also explained that continuing to work with younger stars helps keep him creatively energized while also keeping him relevant in a constantly changing wrestling industry.

“To work with younger guys — and obviously at this point everybody’s a younger guy — my mindset is always set in what can we do to make this the best possible show.”

Ricochet’s AEW run has generated strong reactions from fans online in recent months, especially due to his character work alongside Jericho. Jericho clearly believes their feud accomplished exactly what it was designed to do.
