Ghanaian music duo DopeNation has paid a courtesy call on President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, on Tuesday May 19, 2026, to discuss a potential partnership and shared vision ahead of Ghana’s anticipated participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The high-level engagement took place at the headquarters of the Ghana Football Association, as Ghana intensifies preparations toward football’s biggest global spectacle, which will be staged across the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico.
The award-winning musical duo – identical twin brothers Micheal Boafo, popularly known as B2, and Tony Boafo, also known as Twist – engaged President Simeon-Okraku in productive discussions centered on collaboration opportunities to support Ghana football and amplify national enthusiasm ahead of the World Cup.
The meeting focused on a shared ambition to strategically harness the power of music and entertainment to energize Ghana’s World Cup campaign while simultaneously contributing to the growth, visibility, and appeal of domestic football.
Recognizing music as a powerful instrument for national mobilization and unity, both parties explored innovative ways of strengthening fan engagement, inspiring patriotism, and rallying support for the Ghana national football team as they prepare for the global showpiece in North America.
President Simeon-Okraku warmly welcomed the celebrated duo and praised their remarkable rise within the music industry, applauding their consistency, creativity, and growing influence both locally and internationally.
The GFA President singled out DopeNation’s hit song, “Kakalika,” describing it as a cultural phenomenon that has captured the imagination of Ghanaians and resonated with audiences far beyond the country’s borders.
He further encouraged the brothers to preserve the unity that has become the foundation of their success, emphasizing that discipline, togetherness, and a shared purpose remain critical ingredients in sustaining excellence.
President Simeon-Okraku also expressed excitement about the prospect of collaborating with the duo as Ghana prepares for what is expected to be a memorable FIFA World Cup campaign.
“With football and music serving as two of Ghana’s strongest instruments of national identity and pride, there is tremendous value in bringing both sectors together to inspire the nation and project Ghana positively onto the global stage.” President Simeon-Okraku emphasized.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Micheal Boafo (B2) expressed heartfelt appreciation to the GFA President for the warm reception and engaging discussions.
He reaffirmed DopeNation’s readiness and commitment to playing an active role in Ghana’s World Cup journey, particularly by helping to spearhead the entertainment and fan engagement drive capable of galvanizing nationwide support for the Black Stars.
B2 also highlighted the group’s enthusiasm to contribute to the promotion and development of domestic football, signaling DopeNation’s desire to become key stakeholders in Ghana’s football growth agenda.
Present at the meeting were GFA Deputy General Secretary, Ama Brobey Williams; Head of Business Development at the Football Association, Janice Odonkor; Director of Marketing and President of WAFU Zone B Marketing, Jamil Maraby; and Senior Manager of Communication at the Office of the President, Patrick Akoto.
DopeNation attended the meeting alongside members of their management team.
As Ghana steadily builds momentum toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the engagement signals the beginning of what could evolve into a dynamic partnership between football and entertainment â one with the potential to inspire a nation, energize supporters, and showcase Ghana’s rich cultural identity on the world stage.
