The Black Diamond Women’s Lightwire Short Sleeve Tech Tee has quickly become my workout go-to. The thin polyester knit on this shirt gives it a light, loose, and free feeling shirt for any activity. I have worked this shirt hard in the gym, on long runs, and shorter dog walks on sunny days. A true go-to performance tee
Like I said in the intro, this tee has worn well for long sweaty trail runs, slow dog walks, techy mountain bike rides, and as a layer under long sleeves. I’ve used it throughout this strangely warm PNW spring, where temps have ranged from the chilly 50’s to nearly touching 80 on some days. It thrives in the hot weather.
I got a size small for this tee. I tend to fit right between and medium and small for most tee shirts. The Lightwire is an active fitting tee, the leans loose and more boxy than fitted. This is a great cut for my body and fit preferences. This shirt fits athletically without clinging too tightly for activities where you want some flexibility and wiggle room.
There is not too much more to say about a tee shirt. This piece truly has all I want in active wear — the cut and fit are great for strong athletic bodies. Black Diamond does a good job fitting their women’s clothing in a way that just works well for the real bodies that wear them. The fabric feels soft, moves with you, quick dries, and looks slick. The color options are simple (just three solid choices) and easy to pair with other athletic clothing.
The main downside I have experienced with this piece is that the fabric can cling to my spandex shorts that I wear for long runs. This is truly a minor issue and probably more of a personal preference rather than a downside of the piece. Similarly the light fabric can be a little see through once sweat through on big efforts. This does not bother me too much, but if you catch me on a sweaty run you might see my sports bra shining in all her sweaty glory.
