Floyd
Mayweather and Mike Tyson are still expected to square off this
year, but the exhibition boxing match will take place later than
anticipated.

That’s according to a press release from CSI Sport/Fight Sports,
which claims to have secured agreements from both boxers. While

previous reports had Mayweather vs. Tyson scheduled for April
25 in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the release states that the
bout was slated for May 30. However, the booking was postponed as
Tyson recovers from a broken hand.

A date, venue and broadcast plans are expected to be announced
soon.

Complications Abound

There could be a conflict with the exhibition, as Mayweather is
also supposed to face Manny
Pacquiao in a
rematch this fall. That matchup, assuming it holds up, will be
broadcast on Netflix. However, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao 2 lost its venue at the Sphere due to The Eagles
taking up residency there on the bout’s original Sept. 19 date.
There have also been disputes over the terms of the bout:
Mayweather reportedly wants it to be billed as an exhibition, while
Pacquiao would prefer that it proceed as a professional fight.

Mayweather, 49, hasn’t fought professionally since defeating former
UFC two-division champion Conor
McGregor via 10th-round TKO in August 2017. However, the former
champion has competed in a number of exhibitions, facing the likes
of Tenshin
Nasukawa, Logan Paul,
Mikuru
Asakura and John Gotti
III, to name a few.

The 59-year-old Tyson hasn’t fought professionally since 2005.
However, the legendary former world champion returned to battled
Roy Jones to a draw in 2020 before falling to Jake Paul via
unanimous decision in 2024. Both of those bouts were classified as
exhibitions, and the clash with Paul drew massive ratings on
Netflix.
