‘Hungry, Passionate’ Packers’ Defensive Lineman Draws Praise From Position Coach

The Packers have some big question marks along the defensive line, but Devonte Wyatt certainly isn’t one of them.

If anything, the only uncertainty about Wyatt, is whether the Packers will be able to find a way to secure him to a long-term extension.

Wyatt, chosen by the Packers in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, is set to play out the fifth-year option of his rookie contract.

However, if defensive line coach Vince Oghobaase has his way, Wyatt’s time in Green Bay will extend far beyond the final snap of the 2026 season.

“He’s hungry, he’s very passionate, he wants to be great, and he’s very coachable and adaptable,” defensive line coach Vince Oghobaase recently told reporters. “I believe his best ball is ahead of him. He can rush the passer, he can stop the run. He has an immaculate play style that I love. He’s a vocal guy. He’s taking more of a leadership role, and the guys like him a lot and I like him a lot.”

Last season, Wyatt posted four sacks with 15 total tackles but if he can level up the impact he makes up front and be even more productive on the stat sheet, he could become the next Packer to secure a long-term contract extension, especially if he’s able to free up Micah Parsons to be even more disruptive off the edge.
