Flemings was a five-star recruit in the class of 2025 who signed with Houston to stay in-state. In his one season at Houston, he averaged 16.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. He shot 47.6 percent from the floor, 38.7 percent from deep and 84.5 percent from the free throw line. He led the Cougars to a Sweet Sixteen before they were defeated in the NCAA Tournament.
Following the season, Flemings declared for the NBA Draft. He is currently projected to be a top 10 pick.
Kingston Flemings Strengths
Flemings is a good athlete who will fit right in at the NBA level, if not standout. He has great foot quickness, showing good acceleration that builds up to a good top speed. Flemings uses that speed to his advantage to drive by defenders and get into the paint. On defense, he can slide and stay in front. When he is ball handling, he can use his top-end speed, but what is more impressive is his ability to control the pace and change speeds as needed. He doesn’t often get sped up into mistakes.
He joined a team in Houston that had a point guard and Flemings became the lead creator. Flemings can operate the pick and roll well, making the right read often times, whether that is passing to the roller, finding another open teammate or keeping the ball for himself. He can run the half-court offense and get good shots for his teammates. In transition, he often makes the right play, which often times gets an open layup. Flemings can be trusted to run an offense at the next level.
His defense is particularly impressive. When he is guarding on-ball, he is able to move his feet well to stay in front of his matchups. While he doesn’t have the greatest length, he does have the ability to guard a few positions on the perimeter and switch because of his foot quickness. When he is off-ball, Flemings reads passing lanes and can generate steals, as he averaged 1.5 per game at Houston. He provides good team defense and will help when necessary.
Kingston Flemings Weaknesses
Flemings is a smaller player at just over 6-foot-2 and 183 pounds. This makes him a smaller draft prospect and he will need to fill out his frame more for the physicality of the NBA. He can struggle to match up with bigger players defensively and needs more strength to do so. Added strength can also help him play through contact at the offensive end of the floor.
Finishing at the basket can improve for the next level. He can score at all three levels, but he can struggle to finish at the basket, specifically around taller players. Flemings can add strength to help him be more consistent in the paint offensively, but he can also continue to be creative by finishing with floaters or using the rim as protection from shot blockers.
While he shot a decent percentage from deep at the college level, his shooting mechanics are not traditional. He will have to work on getting the shot off quicker and getting his guide hand to not be as prominent on the ball. If his shooting percentage regresses at the next level a change to his mechanics could be in store to improve things.
Projected Draft Range: Top 10 Pick
