EHL: Amsterdam Win 22nd Dutch Women’s Title – EHL

AH&BC Amsterdam won the Dutch women’s title for the 22nd time as Anne Veenendaal starred in a final shoot-out against Den Bosch.

Two legs could not separate the teams with both games ending 2-2 but in the decisive phase, the goalkeeper kept out four efforts out of seven from Den Bosch to secure the spoils 4-3.

Normal time of game two was a feisty affair with the hosts taking the lead when Lieve Wijckmans reacted quickest to Rosa Fernig’s long overhead ball and raced into score a brilliant backhand shot.

Amsterdam turned things around in Q3 via a pair of Imke Verstraeten penalty corner drag-flicks, giving them a 2-1 lead they tried to cling onto.

Charlotte Englebert, however, crashed in a corner rebound for 2-2 to send the contest to a shoot-out.

There, Den Bosch led 2-1 after three rounds but only scored one of their next four efforts, setting the stage for Felice Albers to scramble in the winning goal.

Amsterdam now qualify for next year’s EHL FINAL8 with reigning champions SCHC going to the FINAL12.
