Laryea Kingston and the Uganda 17 team were given a heroic welcome following their qualification to the U17 World Cup in Qatar later this year.
The former Ghana international led the Ugandan Cubs back to the highest stage of U17 football after defeating the Black Starlets on penalties in the playoffs at the U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
Kingston, his technical team and the players were met at the Entebbe International Airport by hundredths of Ugandans to celebrate the moment.

The team was also received by top officials of Ugandan football including President Justus Mugisha, Exco Member Ronnie Kalema, Uganda Youth Football Association Chairman Robert’s Kiwanuka and Fred Katende Malibu-Officer in Office of FUFA President.
Kingston is expected to lead the team to the World Cup, with discussion already ongoing over the Cubs’ preparations for the tournament to be held in Qatar later this year.

Meanwhile, Ghana’s U17 team, the Black Starlets will be arriving in the country in the coming days, with a new set expected to group for preparations ahead of the WAFU Zone B qualifiers next year.
