Tottenham surge into race to sign Manchester United flop for just £10m

Tottenham Hotspur are now plotting a raid on a rival London club, with an “unbelievable” player set to be available for a bargain fee.

Lewis family promise De Zerbi funds for summer “rebuild”

It is clear there are some deep-rooted issues at Tottenham, having finished 17th in the Premier League two years in a row, narrowly avoiding relegation with a 1-0 victory at home against Everton on Sunday.

In a recent statement, the Lewis family have now taken accountability, and promised to provide Roberto De Zerbi with investment ahead of the summer transfer window.

“Finishing 17th this and last season does not reflect the stature or potential of this football club,” they said. “We are bitterly disappointed and share your frustration. You, and we, expect more than this. We know this must never happen again.

“We also take responsibility for rebuilding Spurs. Our ambition is to recapture the spirit of the club and bring back the excitement, the fearlessness and the bold football we have always felt defined us.

“That means football comes first. The board and executive team have laid out their plans to meet this ambition. This will require investment – in our teams, the academy, our backroom functions and more – and we are fully committed to this.”

Major changes may be necessary, with Spurs underperforming so drastically over an extended period, which suggests a serious cash injection could be required.

However, saving money where possible is always beneficial, and a potential low-cost addition to the squad has also been identified.

Tottenham plotting raid on West Ham for “unbeleivable” player

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham have jumped into the race to sign West Ham United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is now set to be available for just £10m, following his side’s relegation from the Premier League.

The Hammers will have to rebuild this summer, having dropped to the Championship, despite a 3-0 final day victory against Leeds United, and the former Crystal Palace and Manchester United man could be one of the first players to leave, although Spurs are also keen on signing Jarrod Bowen.

Several Premier League clubs have set their sights on the DR Congo international, who struggled at United but bounced back at West Ham, with the north Londoners said to admire his ‘defensive reliability and versatility’.

The 28-year-old has 233 top flight appearances to his name, during which time he’s amassed four goals and 21 assists, and journalist Liam Canning lauded the defender as “unbelievable” for his tackling and one on one defending abilities.

Of course, De Zerbi already has Pedro Porro and Djed Spence to choose from at right-back, with the latter player comfortable playing on both sides, so signing Wan-Bissaka may not be completely necessary, but it is clear to see why his availability for a bargain fee is attractive.
