Bobby Heenan Reveals Why the Ultimate Warrior Was So Difficult to Work With

Bobby Heenan and the Ultimate Warrior famously did not like one another. In a past interview, Heenan explained why he often found it tough to work with the WWE legend.

Speaking to Title Match Wrestling in an interview in 2002, Heenan (who passed away in 2017) spoke about his history with the company. Heenan was a manager, commentator, and wrestler from the 1960s through the 2000s, and worked with WWE and WCW throughout the 80s and 90s.

On the topic of Warrior, Heenan opened up about his history with the star. Heenan said that Warrior was “too good for the business,” and took issue with what Heenan said was a lack of skill and knowledge of the ways of wrestling.

I didn’t like working with the Warrior because he had no respect for wrestlers,” said Heenan. “He was just a muscle-bound maître d’ at some titty bar, probably. I don’t know. I mean, he has no wrestling ability. He never thought about learning the craft. He thought he’d put paint on…and hang different things off his boots and wear feathers or something.”

Heenan also shared that Warrior ignored his request to protect him during one in-ring incident, after he already told the wrestler he had a bad neck. Heenan asked Warrior not to hit his neck, which he ignored, and later said was due to not knowing what he’d do in the ring.

Heenan and Warrior’s issues are well-documented at this point. Heenan had spoken often about how he viewed Warrior as someone who didn’t respect wrestling. Warrior didn’t mince any words when talking back to Heenan, calling him a “two-faced” person. Their feud lasted forever, as well, as Warrior infamously had some pretty scathing words for Heenan as the latter was suffering from cancer.
