The remaining places in the last eight of the French Open will be determined on Monday, when Felix Auger-Aliassime and Flavio Cobolli take the court as the only seeds left in the second quarter of the draw. They are facing Alejandro Tabilo and Zachary Svajda, respectively.
(4) Felix Auger-Aliassime vs. Alejandro Tabilo
It might as well be an all-Canadian clash when Auger-Aliassime and Tabilo battle for a quarterfinal spot at the French Open on Monday. Tabilo plays under the Chilean flag — and therefore enjoys enthusiastic crowd support pretty much everywhere he goes — but was born in Canada and grew up there exclusively before moving to Chile shortly after he joined the pro tour. The left-hander is through to round four of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career following wins over Kamil Majchrzak and Moise Kouame to go along with a walkover from Valentin Vacherot.

In an upset-filled draw, Auger-Aliassime is one of the most realistic title contenders remaining. The world No. 6 is a two-time major semifinalist (both at the U.S. Open) and has reached the quarters at two other slams. He is one win away from his first quarterfinal spot at Roland Garros after defeating Daniel Altmaier in a fifth-set tiebreaker, Roman Andres Burruchaga in a routine four-setter, and Brandon Nakashima in a very tight four-setter. Auger-Aliassime has the edge in form and experience, while the surface is a non-factor since both guys are all-court players. Tabilo should be able to keep it close, but count on FAA rolling into the last eight.
Pick: Auger-Aliassime in 4
(10) Flavio Cobolli vs. Zachary Svajda
Among a plethora of interesting storylines at the 2026 French Open is that of Svajda, a 23-year-old American who is ranked No. 85 in the world. Prior to this fortnight, Svajda was 3-7 on the main tour in 2026 and 11-26 in his career. He had won just two Grand Slam matches all time — none outside of the U.S. Open. From completely out of nowhere, he finds himself in the last 16 at Roland Garros thanks to victories over Alexei Popyrin, Adam Walton, and Francisco Cerundolo. Svajda’s dad passed away from cancer in 2025, and the biggest win of his career — a five-setter over Cerundolo in round three — came on his day’s birthday.
Standing in Svajda’s way of the quarterfinals is Cobolli, who won their only previous encounter 6-4, 6-7(1), 6-2 at the 2024 Delray Beach ATP 250. The start of Cobolli’s 2026 campaign was a disaster, but to say he has caught fire would be an understatement. The 14th-ranked Italian reached the Delray Beach semis, won a 500-point title in Acapulco, finished runner-up in Munich, and made a run to the Madrid quarters. So far in Paris he has disposed of Andrea Pellegrino, Yibing Wu, and Learner Tien without dropping a single set. If Cobolli maintains this kind of level, it will be the end of a memorable road for Svajda.
Pick: Cobolli in 3
