Maximum man Freddy is SBCL Player of the Season

Fusion’s Freddy Wilke is the Senior British Clubs League Player of the Season for 2025/26.

The 20-year-old represented the south London club’s third and second teams and had some eye-catching results.

Playing for Fusion III in Division B2, he won 20 out of 20 singles matches, as well as winning all seven of the doubles matches he competed in.

Playing up for Fusion II in Division A2, he won five of his six matches. Across both teams, his commitment was illustrated by playing 26 out of a possible 28 matches during the season.

Freddy said his best moment of the season was his last match, when he came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 against Richard Carden of New House TTC, and he said: “I think that summarised my season as I kept that never-give-up, winning mentality.”

He added: “It feels great to be recognised for the hard work I’ve put in over this season and I’m very happy to win an award that’s not very easy to win.

“Playing in the Senior British Clubs League is great as I enjoy playing with my team-mates and having a team morale, which you don’t really get when you play individual tournaments.

“The mix of players you come up against over the course of a season has helped my game the most as I’ve been adapting to play a variety of different styles and this has really helped me in other tournaments as well.”

Neil Rogers, Table Tennis England Head of Competitions and Events, said: “Freddy has had a great season, with a 100% record in his registered team – rising from outside the top 200 to be a top-100 rated player as a consequence. He is deservedly the Senior BCL Player of the Season – many congratulations!”

Look out for Freddy and his Fusion TTC teammates in British Clubs League season 2026/27, starting in September – entries open soon!
