Will Ospreay is not letting anyone downplay his résumé just because AAA had one of the year’s most talked-about matches.
Ospreay took to Twitter and responded after someone claimed he may be the best wrestler in the world, but that El Grande Americano vs. The Original El Grande Americano at AAA Noche de Los Grandes would be remembered more than any match from his career. Ospreay pushed back by pointing to several major moments that fans still discuss years later.
“Yet 10 years on people still talk about the ricochet match. I still get tagged in the Ibushi rana spot First British person to ever win the IWGP title Had Assassins Creed rehire Ezio to narrate me to Wembley.”
The Aerial Assassin then said the issue is not that his work lacks impact, but that fans often struggle to remember what happened recently, let alone a career built across more than a decade, especially something that never received promotion from WWE.
“And if you can’t remember any of the matches is because people barely remember what happened last week let alone 14 years of consistently being on top my field without ever being promoted by anything from the Fed.”
He still gave the AAA match its credit, calling the Mask vs. Mask bout great while making it clear he is focused on his own path. In the end, he made it clear that people can keep debating while he keeps working.
“Mask vs mask was f****** awesome, won’t take anything away from it but I’m in my own lane never trying to compete with anyone but myself. But continue the conversation, I’ll keep myself busy making towns”
The comments come after JBL praised Chad Gable and Ludwig Kaiser’s bloody Mask vs. Mask match at AAA Noche de Los Grandes. JBL said the Mexican crowd made the moment feel huge and called Gable one of the best wrestlers in the world after the match.
Will Ospreay clearly has respect for what Chad Gable and Ludwig Kaiser did, but he also made it clear that his own career has plenty of history behind it. For him, the debate does not need to become a competition.
