The 23-year-old has been the undisputed leader at Groupama for a few seasons now, but the importance of Grégoire has even grown this season with the young puncheur responsible for more than one third of the French team’s total points scored until June.
This spring, Grégoire won the Faun Drome Classic (1.Pro), finished second at Trofeo Laigueglia (1.Pro), grabbed fourth places at WorldTour classics Strade Bianche and Amstel Gold Race, whilst finishing top-10 in the remaining Ardennes Classics.
Even though Grégoire has already gathered 13 professional victories across his career, he’s yet to add a real career-defining result – such as a National title or a Tour de France stage, both of which are his goals for this summer, but also the summers to come: “These two years should allow me to get even closer to my two goals: the French national championship title and a stage win on the Tour de France,” explains Grégoire.
Even though Grégoire has taken his baby steps with AG2R (now Decathlon) junior team, he transitioned to Groupama – FDJ in the under-23 category where he quickly gained the trust of team managers who promoted Grégoire to WorldTour after just one season in development team – a move which has pained off a number of times already.
And this trust is mutual, Grégoire highlights:
“I know I can rely on trusted people within the team to achieve these goals. I feel I’m progressing every year, that many things are being put in place around me. I want to continue on this upward trajectory, and this is where I’ll do it best. I have no doubt that these two years will allow us to collectively reach the top.”
After completing an altitude camp in Sierra Nevada, Grégoire will ride the Tour de Suisse (June 17-21) where he’ll attempt to repeat his stage victory and a leader’s jersey stint from last year. Following the Swiss race will French championships (June 28) and finally the 2026 Tour de France with Grand Départ in Barcelona.
