Valentina Shevchenko has not answered Wang Cong’s latest attack, and that silence is now part of the story. Cong took aim at the UFC women’s flyweight champion after a reported UFC Macau fan Q&A dispute, but as of the latest reports, Shevchenko has made no public response to the rant.
Valentina Shevchenko Refuses to Engage After Wang Cong’s Brutal Social Media Blast
Cong’s post was blunt. She called Shevchenko a “sore loser,” a “compulsive liar,” and “Box Office Poison,” while claiming Shevchenko asked UFC to avoid a joint appearance in Macau. The comments spread quickly because of the history between the two women, who share a kickboxing background and have a past result that Cong has used to fuel the rivalry.
“She’s a sore loser with no class—nothing more than a compulsive liar who can’t handle defeat. Oh, and one more thing. I call her ‘Box Office Poison’, because boring fights are exactly what she’s good at.”
Cong is 4-1 in the UFC and riding a three-fight winning streak, while Shevchenko remains one of the division’s most established champions after regaining the belt and later defending it against Zhang Weili. That gap in status has not stopped Cong from pushing the matchup into the spotlight, but Shevchenko’s side has stayed quiet this time. Instead, she has remained active posting travel and bikini photos on social media.
Cong is booked to face Tracy Cortez at UFC 329 on July 11, in Las Vegas. Shevchenko, meanwhile, has been linked with future title talk around Natalia Silva, which helps explain why she may not see value in giving Cong more oxygen right now.

Shevchenko’s silence may be the cleanest answer available. She has already brushed off Cong before, calling earlier comments “so funny” when asked about the rivalry, but this round of criticism has so far met no public reply. For now, Cong has the louder voice, while the champion keeps her focus elsewhere.
Cong’s confidence is tied to a result that still gets brought up whenever her name comes up next to Shevchenko’s. The two fought in a kickboxing bout in China in 2015, and Cong was awarded the decision, a result Shevchenko later questioned when discussing the judging and circumstances around that fight. That history gives Cong a talking point few flyweights have.

Shevchenko is a long-reigning women’s flyweight champion, regained the belt after her rivalry with Alexa Grasso, and later defended it against Zhang Weili, which added another high-level win to one of the deepest title runs in women’s MMA.

Cong’s next chance to strengthen her case comes against Tracy Cortez at UFC 329 on July 11. She enters that matchup at 4-1 in the UFC and on a three-fight win streak, so another victory would give her a fair argument to be mentioned in the title picture, even if Natalia Silva appears to be ahead in the race for Shevchenko’s next defense. In a division that can shift quickly, a big win and another loud callout would keep Cong close enough to the conversation that the UFC would have to notice.
