Mick Foley Comments on If He’s Thought About Telling Darby Allin He Does Not Need to Take All The Risks He’s Taking In The Ring
A recent episode of The Ariel Helwani Show podcast featured Mick Foley as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Foley’s thoughts about if he has thought about telling Darby Allin that he does not need to take all the risks he is taking in the ring for his matches.
“Yes, I will have that conversation. I didn’t think the time to have the conversation was hours before his biggest match [at Double or Nothing]. I’ve been told that people have had that conversation with him. And he says, ‘Everybody does the best stuff on the pay-per-views. I owe it to my fans to do it on every televised event. So, I’ll try to talk with Darby. I didn’t know until about six weeks ago that I was an inspiration in his career…
But I will have that talk with him and try to find out, like, it’s got to be another gear where you can allude to the things, give people 80 percent of what you usually do, knowing that the vast majority of his fans will be thankful for what he gives them and they will understand that they might have to wait until a special event to get the 100 percent Derby. I understand many a man has tried and failed, but I’ll give him the best advice I possibly can.”
Foley also gave his thoughts about one big point that drew him into wanting to work for AEW.
“AEW has done a really good job of making their midcard mean something. That’s one place where I will compare the two companies. They do a much better job in the midcard. There is a bit more pride. WWE would build a tag team for two or three years, have them win the tag team titles multiple times, and then two big stars who never team would face the tag team and destroy them, showing you that the tag team was never important. I don’t think you see those type of things (in AEW). That’s one thing that drew me in.”

Excalibur Closes June 3rd AEW Dynamite Show In Support of Pride Month
This past Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show in Richmond, Virginia featured AEW commentator Excalibur closing out the show with a quote saying “Fix your hearts or die. This is All Elite Wrestling.”
This quote is from the Twin Peaks: The Return series and was stated by David Lynch’s character FBI Regional Bureau Chief Gordon Cole when he spoke to his colleague, transgender DEA Agent Denise Bryson, in defense of her transition to their other colleagues.
In the series, Cole’s full line to Bryson was “When you became Denise, I told all of your colleagues, those clown comics, to fix their hearts or die.”
Excalibur referencing the line was his way of being vocal of his support of the LGBTQ community during this month of June being Pride month.
Excalibur sighed off of the first Dynamite of Pride Month with : “FIX YOUR HEARTS OR DIE! THIS IS ALL ELITE WRESTLING!”
Which is a peaks reference where a character played by the late David Lynch said it it while standing up for a transgender colleague! pic.twitter.com/0CgTUfD8MS
