Toronto Maple Leafs: Vincent Trocheck, and the Narrowing the Coaching Search

The Toronto Maple Leafs have inquired about Vincent Trocheck

TSN: Mollie Walker reported in the NY Post that after the Toronto Maple Leafs announced that Max Domi was out indefinitely after surgery, the Leafs reached out to the New York Rangers about center Vincent Trocheck.

Walker said it could take a high draft pick, Nick Robertson, and prospect Ben Danford. Forward Matthew Knies would be “on the Rangers radar,” but he may not be available.

The Minnesota Wild and Detroit Red Wings were interested Trocheck before the trade deadline, but neither has reached out this offseason. Same can be said for the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators.

The Toronto Maple Leafs should be narrowing down their coaching search soon after 15 or so Zoom calls

Sportsnet: Elliotte Friedman on 32 Thoughts: The Podcast – Category 5 Hockey episode on the Toronto Maple Leafs coaching search.

** NHLRumors.com transcription

“Toronto, I’ve heard they’ve done like 15 Zoom interviews, and I think Peter Laviolette was one of them. Working on some others.

You know, as I’ve said, I’m not 100% certain about David Carle being out. Some other reporters seem to be very confident of that, and at this point in time, I have no reason to think any of them are wrong. I just haven’t been told that 100% specifically.

There’s been too much this week about reporters fighting with each other about information. I can only tell you what I’ve heard. as much from the source as I can, particularly believe it. And you know, we’ll see.

I think I’m getting closer to confirming some of these names, but Laviolette is one I know they did by Zoom, I heard. So we’ll see about some of the others. I heard they’re about 15.”

NHL Rumors: Activity Starting To Pick Up Around the League

Bukauskas: “That seems like a big number.”

Friedman: “Yeah. Again, I don’t have a problem with that. I’m assuming they’re going to narrow it down soon.”
