Former WWE Star Open to Returning After 13 Years

Matt Striker isn’t closing the door on a wrestling return, and that includes possibly returning to WWE after 13 years.

While speaking to Nick Teodoro, Striker was asked if he had any interest in returning to wrestling after years away from WWE and was even asked about Lucha Underground possibly returning. Striker admitted he has heard some rumblings, but joked that no one has actually called him yet.

“I’ve heard those rumblings too, but I got a little, you know, a little funny feeling in my stomach because I was like, ‘Wait a minute, no one called me,’ you know. Of course I would like to be. It’s special.”

Striker then made it clear that he would be open to working with WWE again, while also naming AEW as a place he would be interested in: “I mean, I’d like to get back in with WWE or AEW. You know, wrestling is something that—look, it’s not work if you love what you do.”

The former WWE Superstar also compared that mindset to other jobs, noting that he still wants to be the best at whatever he does, whether that is wrestling, teaching, or another path in life.

“And I can apply that to anything. Anyone out there that has a regular job, you’re a plumber. I was a teacher. Right now I have kids. I’m going to go back into teaching if I can find something out here in Long Island. Anyone out there, help. You still want to be the best that you could be. I don’t know, I’m kind of rambling here.”

Striker’s comments show that wrestling still means a lot to him, even though his life has moved in other directions since his WWE departure in 2013. Whether it is WWE, AEW, or another opportunity, he sounds open to returning if the right call comes.
