WWE Announces CM Punk Appearance Amid Reported SmackDown Move

CM Punk’s WWE future has been the subject of plenty of speculation lately, but WWE may have just given fans the update on his next appearance and made it clear that The Best in the World isn’t going anywhere.

Punk has been away from WWE TV since the RAW after WrestleMania 42, leading to rumors about backstage issues and even talk of a possible reunion with AEW. But recent developments seem to have shut those rumors down.

CM Punk will appear at Fanatics Fest in July

During the June 12 episode of SmackDown, WWE announced that CM Punk will appear at Fanatics Fest on July 19 at the Javits Center in New York City. The announcement clarified that Punk remains an important part of WWE’s plans.

Roman Reigns has also been announced for Fanatics Fest on July 18.

For those unfamiliar with it, Fanatics Fest is often described as the “Comic-Con of sports.” Held at New York City’s Javits Center, it brings together athletes, entertainers, collectors, brands, and fans for autograph sessions, photo opportunities, exclusive merchandise, live shows, and interactive experiences.

The 2026 edition will run from July 16 to July 19.

Punk wasn’t taken off TV because of any problems behind the scenes. Reports also indicate that WWE is planning to bring Punk back as part of the SmackDown roster. The reported move would also help balance star power between the two brands. It also makes sense since Punk had hinted at targeting Cody Rhodes’ title during his last appearance.

Moreover, before any brand switch happens, Punk is still advertised for the July 6 episode of RAW in his hometown Chicago. Coming back in front of his hometown crowd would guarantee one of the loudest reactions of the year before WWE potentially moves him to Friday nights.

Of course, plans can always change in WWE, but everything points toward Punk returning soon after what appears to have been a planned break from WWE TV.
