Former WWE co-president George Barrios reveals a valuable lesson he learned from Vince McMahon.
Barrios took on the role of co-president alongside Michelle Wilson in 2018 after initially joining the company as Chief Financial Officer in 2008. The duo later had a brief second stint with WWE when McMahon forced his way back into power in 2023.
Speaking to POST Wrestling in a recent interview, George Barrios opened up about a lesson he learned while working under Vince McMahon. He explained that McMahon often refrained from sharing his opinions during company meetings, a trait Barrios eventually adopted himself.
“People who don’t interact with Vince have this vision of the character he plays on Raw or SmackDown. He is larger than life, but — he’s a quiet guy,” Barrios said. “And, in fact, probably the most difficult thing for him and I to connect on is I’m not. I tend to be a little louder. Very comfortable voicing my opinion. Vince, smarter than me, kind of keeps his opinion to himself until the meeting’s over. I kind of learned that from him, and actually because it’s a good trait.” [H/T F4Wonline.com]
Barrios recently released his book, Sometimes Wrong but Never in Doubt: How a Cuban Kid from Queens Transformed WWE. In the book, he discusses his time with the company and takes credit for helping WWE honor its contractual obligations with Saudi Arabia despite the controversy surrounding the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
