OSCAAR: Parker and Reinhart win on Opening Night at Sauble

SAUBLE BEACH, ON – The OSCAAR Hot Rods, Modifieds and Super Late Models opened their seasons at Sauble Speedway on Saturday night. Jason Parker and Dale Reinhart grabbed victories before Mother Nature forced an early end to the late model feature.

Jason Parker Leads Flag-to-Flag in OSCAAR Hot Rods

Jason Parker has made it known through the years that he’s most comfortable at Sauble Speedway, and he proved it again with a dominating victory in The Fyre Place & Patio Shop OSCAAR Hot Rods presented by Bromley Automotive Ltd feature.

After showing speed in his qualifying heats, Parker was one of the six drivers that made the re-draw and made the most of it – pulling the top spot for the 30-lap feature. Taking The Car Guy green flag from the pole, the driver of the No. 8 Camaro paced the field convincingly through the full feature en route to Knightworks Design victory lane.

Last year’s fall Sauble race winner Rob Bromley ran in the runner-up spot throughout the full duration of the event ahead of Thomas Wunsch, Steve Book, and John Gaunt. Jacob Booth made the most of his Hot Rod debut as he battled throughout the event to a sixth-place finish in front of Tyler Hawn, Drew Richardson, Daniel Hawn, and Trevor Thompson.

Brian Wilson Jr. overcame mechanical gremlins that the team was fighting coming into the event for an 11th-place finish ahead of rookie Ayden McNicol. Ryan Cowan failed to finish after mechanical issues sent him pit side on Lap 26. Tom Walters went off the track following a spin on Lap 16, with Jay Doerr rounding out the field.

Heat race wins went to Daniel Hawn, Rob Bromley, Tyler Hawn, and Jason Parker. The OSCAAR Hot Rods will be back in action at Delaware Speedway on Saturday, June 27.

Dale Reinhart Dominates OSCAAR Modifieds Opener

Taking the lead on Lap 13, Dale Reinhart did not look back en route to scoring the victory in the Overkill Enterprise OSCAAR Modified season opener at Sauble Speedway.

A solid qualifying effort saw Reinhart take The Car Guy green flag in the fourth position, ready to make his way forward right away. He moved into the runner-up spot off the start, before making his way by Steve Trendell on Lap 13 to take over the lead. He then led the rest of the 40-lap feature to complete the night in Scott Reinhart Trailer Sales Ltd victory lane.

Bryan Batty made his way through the field, using a couple late-race restarts to his advantage for a runner-up finish. Rick Burbridge made the most of his series debut, running inside the top-three throughout the event en route to third. Last year’s series champion Trendell and Wally Wilson rounded out the top-five.

Matt Haufe was solid in his series debut with a sixth ahead of Tyler Liscum, Eric McLean, Daryl Henwood, and Brent McLean. Notably, Eric and Henwood each went for a spin in the final 10 laps, while Brent was forced pit side with seven laps to go.

Heat race wins went to Dale Reinhart, Steve Trendell (x2), and Bryan Batty.

Jason Keen was in attendance, but suffered motor issues during the opening practice session, ending his night early. Amanda Balson endured a hard crash during the second practice after her throttle hung going into turn one. Although her car sustained heavy damage, she was okay.

The OSCAAR Modifieds will be back in action at Delaware Speedway on Saturday, June 27.

Mother Nature Cuts Short OSCAAR Super Late Model Feature

After Mother Nature tried to stop the night several times along the way, rain finally won in the JRS Auctions OSCAAR Super Late Models presented by Just Foam It feature.

Brandon Passer proved why he was able to visit Hoosier Racing Tire victory lane with the super lates previously, as evident by picking up the Shepherd Media Fastest Qualifier Award at Sauble, with a lap of 13.731 seconds.

After leading practice, TJ Edwards was second quickest, with a lap of 13.774 seconds, ahead of Jason Parker (13.834), Brad Pearsall (13.845), and Glenn Styres (13.851). Dwayne Baker qualified sixth in front of Glenn Watson, Dario Capirchio, Dustyn Mombourquette, and Trevor Monaghan. Ryan Dick and Mike Miller rounded out the field.

The top-six were forced to re-draw for their starting positions as per the series rulebook, with Baker pulling the pole ahead of Styres, Passer, Parker, Edwards, and Pearsall. Baker would not take The Car Guy green flag, as he stalled during the pace laps, forcing him to be pushed pit side.

The field took the green flag, with contact on Lap 2 between Styres and Edwards off turn four, resulting in Edwards getting sideways and blocking the track. That left nowhere to go for several competitors including Parker, Pearsall, Capirchio, Monaghan, and Miller.

Under the red flag, while cleaning up the wreck, the skies opened up with a steady rainfall on the speedway resulting in the event being called early. Due to less than half of the event being completed, it was deemed incomplete as per the series rulebook. As a result, each driver in attendance will be solely awarded 30 event show-up points.

The OSCAAR Super Late Models are back in action on Tuesday, June 30 with the Gold Rush at Flamboro Speedway.
