Matt Hardy is not buying into the idea that WWE is about to scoop up TNA.
TNA has been dealing with a lot of noise lately thanks to staff changes and questions about where the company is headed next. That has led to plenty of fan speculation that WWE could eventually buy the company, especially with the working relationship between WWE and TNA getting more attention.
Hardy addressed those rumors on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, and he made it clear that he does not believe a WWE purchase is happening right now. Hardy said TNA’s finances are not in panic mode, and he shot down the idea that WWE is about to buy the company in the near future.
“So financially, TNA is okay. We’re not about to be bought by WWE right now. I know that’s the rumor. I think down the road in a few years that [could] happen, whatever. But right now that is not happening.”
That is the key part. Hardy did not completely close the door on something happening years from now, but he was very clear about the current situation. As far as he sees it, WWE is not about to buy TNA right now.
The timing of those rumors makes sense. TNA has had recent staff movement, Tommy Dreamer’s exit got people talking, and WWE has been working more with TNA talent. In wrestling, that is more than enough for fans to start connecting dots whether there is a deal on the table or not.
Hardy also pushed back on the idea that TNA is in serious financial trouble. Earlier in the same discussion, he said the company is actually trying to save money and streamline its business under TNA President Carlos Silva.
“We’re actually going in the opposite direction. They’re actually saving money.”
That lines up with Hardy’s bigger point. He is saying TNA is not collapsing. It is changing how it spends money, how it handles deals, and how it operates behind the scenes.
At the end of the day, Hardy is telling fans not to jump straight to WWE buyout talk just because TNA is making internal changes. He left the door open for something down the road, but right now, his message is simple: TNA is okay financially, and WWE is not buying the company at this moment.
