Move to Vegas Has Christian Rodriguez Feeling “Best I’ve Ever Felt”

Featherweight Christian Rodriguez enters UFC Vegas 119 looking to snap a two-fight skid, paired up with Hyder Amil after moving out to Las Vegas to shake things up a bit.

“Camp was great. I’ve been living in Las Vegas for the past six months, I moved out here. So it was definitely different, kind of adjusting to it, but yeah mentally and physically I feel great,” Rodriguez (12-4) said during this week’s UFC Vegas 119 media day. “I feel the best I’ve ever felt, so I’m excited to perform on Saturday.”

Amil, who came into the UFC via the Contender Series, was already on the radar for Rodriguez. “He’s very dangerous, aggressive, I think it’s a fight fans are going to want to tune in and watch.”

He also noted the tough spot both men find themselves in this Saturday. “We’re both coming off two losses, so that’s definitely more motivating for both of us, because we both want to get back in the win column.”

Early in his UFC run, “CeeRod” became known as a “prospect killer,” earning wins over Raul Rosas Jr, Cameron Saiiman, Isaac Dulgarian, and Austin Bashi, all of whom were undefeated up-and-comers when Rodriguez faced them.

He’s come a long way from fighting in bars in the early days of his career, Rodriguez noted. “It feels crazy still. Sometimes it still feels like a dream, because at the end of the day I’m so grateful to be here. But yeah it’s amazing to see.”
