An attorney has urged Government to throw more funds behind the Barbados Probation Service as the wait time for pre-sentencing reports has moved from at least eight weeks to 12 weeks.
The call has come from defence counsel Martie Garnes as two of his matters, both of which are awaiting such reports, were given January 2025 dates.
“In my view, I am really hopeful the same way how Parliament is going and they are making several of these amendments, I hope it is they take the time and give the Probation Department the resources and funds they need to do their job,” he said.
Garnes was speaking in the No. 3A Supreme Court yesterday, where his client Kemar Mario DaCosta Greene threw in the towel and confessed to five counts of robbery.
