Lyra Valkyria just snapped, and Bayley paid the price on the June 20th edition of Monday Night Raw in London.
Paige and WWE Hall of Famer Brie Bella walked into their WWE Women’s Tag Team Title defense as champions, and they walked out the same way. But by the end of the match, nobody was talking about just the titles. They were talking about Lyra turning on Bayley in ugly fashion.
Bayley and Lyra came out swinging, going right after Paige as Bayley scored an early two-count. Paige fired back by slapping Bayley before tagging in Brie Bella, and the champs quickly took control with a Codebreaker and a double bulldog attack.
Bayley eventually fought back, nailing Brie with a back suplex and catching Paige with a knee. She dropped Brie with a neckbreaker and then hit the Bayley-to-Belly, but Paige yanked Brie out of the ring to save the match.
Bayley and Lyra kept Brie trapped for a while, hitting a double suplex and taking turns wearing her down. Brie finally created space with a side Russian legsweep and a missile dropkick, and the crowd came alive as she made the tag to Paige.
That is when Paige started cleaning house. She hit German suplexes on Lyra and Bayley, then followed with fisherman suplexes to both challengers. Paige tried to finish Lyra with the Paige Turner, but Lyra reversed it into the Nightwing for a close two-count.
Brie took Bayley down with a running knee, while Lyra dropped Brie with a kick. Paige and Lyra then traded pinning combinations before Lyra tried to finish things with a fisherman buster. Paige had other plans and countered into the RamPaige to retain the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.
Then came the real drama. Bayley and Lyra were crushed after the loss, and Bayley tried to calm her partner down. Bayley told Lyra they would get another shot: “We’ll get another chance.” Bayley also tried to lift Lyra up after the painful defeat: “You’re the best.”
Instead of accepting the support, Lyra exploded. She shoved Bayley into the ropes and started beating her down as the crowd turned on her. Lyra kicked Bayley, punched her, slapped her, and completely snapped while referees rushed in to stop the attack.
Lyra was not finished. She threw Bayley into the ropes again, tried to choke her, and then planted her with the Nightwing, leaving Bayley laid out in the ring.
Paige and Brie may still be the champions, but Lyra Valkyria stole the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. What started as a tough title loss turned into a full-blown betrayal, and Bayley now has a serious problem on her hands.
