Chad Gable tried to make things right with Alpha Academy on WWE RAW, but Maxxine Dupri was not having it.
During the June 22 episode of RAW, Gable called out Otis, Maxxine Dupri, and Akira Tozawa so he could apologize for everything he had done to them over the past few years. Gable looked genuinely remorseful as Alpha Academy came to the ring and stared him down.
Gable started with Maxxine, praising her dedication and pointing out that she had done something he never did by winning a singles championship. He admitted the way he treated her was pathetic and embarrassing, and said that was on him. He then turned to Tozawa, calling him the definition of fighting spirit. Gable admitted he tried to smother him and hold him down, saying Tozawa never deserved that treatment.
Then came Otis, and that one clearly hit hardest. Gable called him the most loyal friend anyone could have, saying Otis would have taken a bullet or a car for him. He talked about their 20-year friendship, their tag title run, and even how Otis held his daughters when they were born.
Gable admitted he threw all of that away because he wanted the Intercontinental Championship more than Otis’ friendship. He then apologized and extended his hand, hoping Otis would forgive him.
Otis looked conflicted and seemed ready to shake his hand, but Maxxine stopped him. She called Gable a liar and said the apology was really about him, not them. Maxxine reminded everyone that she once had to beg Gable not to hurt Otis and Tozawa, and said Alpha Academy did not need him anymore.
In the end, Alpha Academy walked away and rejected Gable’s apology. Otis still looked torn, but he left with Maxxine and Tozawa as Gable stood alone in the ring, crushed. Bottom line, Chad Gable may be sorry, but Alpha Academy is not ready to forget. The wounds are still deep, and Maxxine made sure Gable did not get an easy redemption moment.
Do you think Otis should forgive Chad Gable eventually, or was Maxxine right to shut it down? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comments below.
