Naoya Inoue promoter suggests Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez showdown happens in February

Hideyuki Ohashi, founder of Ohashi Promotion and promoter of junior featherweight king Naoya Inoue, has alluded that his star charge will take on Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez in February.

Ohashi told Yahoo Japan:n “[Inoue] will have a big fight in February next year. I am sure you can guess which one. That’s also in motion right now. Once that’s done, the next one will be in an extraordinary place.”

Rodriguez’s coach, Robert Garcia, has said the newly crowned WBA bantamweight champ will likely take another fight, potentially against Seiya Tsutsumi or Christian Medina, before the end of the year.

Inoue, 33-0 (27 KOs), defeated Junto Nakatani over 12 to defend all four 122lbs sanctioning body titles in May while Rodriguez, 24-0 (17 KOs), stepped up to bantamweight the following month to stop Antonio Vargas in six.
