Publisher and developer Kinetic Games today unveiled an updated 2026 roadmap for hit co-op horror game Phasmophobia, detailing the events, patches, and map reworks slated to drop during 2026, while also confirming that its 1.0 version is now expected to release at some point during the second half of 2027.
Phasmophobia’s updated 2026 roadmap kicks off on July 21, 2026, when its long-awaited 13 Willow Street map rework will go live. It promises “room refreshes, tweaked hiding spots, and integrated, never-before-seen lore.” Accompanying it, the first of two planned quality of life updates improves player character models, animations, and customization options.
Content Promotion: If you’re after a different kind of horror mystery while waiting for Phasmophobia’s 1.0 launch, The Polar Darkness is also leaning into investigation, folklore, and atmospheric dread, swapping ghost-hunting co-op for a cult mystery in snowy 1980s Finland.
Phasmophobia Unveils Updated 2026 Roadmap, 1.0 Version Now Releases in 2027
August brings us the second quality-of-life update, while October marks the title’s migration to the Unity 6 engine. The Crimson Eye and Winter’s Jest seasonal events are also confirmed for 2026.
In December, just before the year ends, Phasmophobia’s Edgefield map will also be reworked. Here is a breakdown of Phasmophobia’s updated 2026 roadmap:
Phasmophobia updated 2026 roadmap
| Content | Release Date |
|---|---|
| 13 Willow Street Rework + Quality of Life Update 1 | July 21, 2026 |
| Quality of Life Update 1 | August 2026 |
| Crimson Eye Event + Unity 6 Migration | October 2026 |
| Player Character Visual Update | November 2026 |
| Edgefield Rework + Winter’s Jest Event | December 2026 |
| 1.0 Version Release + Nintendo Switch 2 Launch | Second half of 2027 |
Phasmophobia’s 1.0 launch in 2027 promises a complete overhaul of the existing ghost models, which includes distinct appearances, animations, and backstories.
The title’s lore will also be expanded “through continued environmental storytelling, introducing ghost-specific conduits and deeper connections to the people and places behind each haunting.”
Audio improvements are also part of developer Kinetic Games’ plans, particularly targeting environmental effects, weather systems, and spatial sound, hoping to create an even more immersive experience.
“I can only thank the community for the opportunities the game has given us, growing the studio to a team of over 50 people, and allowing us to work on improving Phasmophobia every day. Everyone’s feedback following our first Player Character Update showed that we have many areas to address before moving further along our roadmap. We’re going to take this time to improve and expand this update to shape the game into the refined horror experience our players expect,” said Daniel Knight, CEO and Game Director at Kinetic Games.
“We’re also investing more time into our 1.0 update, allowing us to add more content, further improve existing features, and ensure it launches at the highest standard possible. From the beginning, my vision for Phasmophobia has been to create a unique and immersive co-op horror experience. As the studio has grown, so has our ability to realise that vision, and we’re excited to keep building on it until we can deliver the experience our players deserve.”
Although Phasmophobia’s 1.0 version delay is bound to disappoint some of its most dedicated fans, the 13 Willow Street and Edgefield map reworks alongside all the other bits included in its updated 2026 roadmap should give us enough reasons to return to the co-op horror title over the coming months.
Phasmophobia is available in early access on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
