Nikkita Lyons finally has championship gold in WWE.
Lyons won the WWE EVOLVE Women’s Championship at EVOLVE Succession III, defeating Wendy Choo to become the new champion. The finish came when Lyons blasted Choo with a spinning front kick to the face, putting the match away and ending Choo’s reign.
Before the show aired, Lyons made it clear on social media that she was ready to leave Succession III with the title around her waist.
“Succession III tonight on @Tubi 🦁 I will become your new Evolve Women’s Champion 🦁🐢 #WWEEvolve @WWE”
She backed that up in the ring. This marks Lyons’ first reign as WWE EVOLVE Women’s Champion and her first championship win in WWE. Choo’s reign lasted 70 days from when she won the title on March 20 to when the match against Lyons was taped on May 29. During that run, Choo made two successful title defenses.
Lyons has also been featured on WWE NXT, where she is aligned with Nattie and Karmen Petrovic. Now that she is holding the EVOLVE Women’s Championship, she has another major piece of momentum behind her.
Nikkita Lyons has been waiting for a moment like this, and Succession III gave her exactly that. She walked in as the challenger and walked out as champion, adding her first WWE title to her resume.
