Jack Perry may not have signed a new AEW deal just yet, but Tony Khan doesn’t sound worried about losing him.
During the Forbidden Door media call, Khan was asked about reports that Perry has not re-signed with AEW yet. He did not announce a new deal, but he made it pretty clear that AEW wants him sticking around, stating that the plan is for Perry to be in AEW for a long time.
“The plan for AEW and Jack is for Jack to be here for a long time. I have believed that Jack is a great wrestler for many years and I continue to feel that way. I like Jack very much. He has a very bright future in wrestling and a great mind for wrestling. It’s been really gratifying for me and fans to see the return of Jungle Jack Perry and seeing fans embrace Jack and the great matches he’s been having. The plan is for Jack Perry to be in AEW for a long time, so that’s going to happen,” he said.
That is a pretty strong sign AEW is not looking to let Jack Perry walk away. This also comes after Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer reported that Perry’s contract situation is still being worked out.
“Jack Perry’s deal is up and he’s currently negotiating.”
Perry has been with AEW since 2019, and the company has given him plenty of big moments. He started as Jungle Boy, became one half of Jurassic Express with Luchasaurus, later turned heel, won the FTW Championship, joined The Elite, and also became TNT Champion. Of course, his AEW run has also had plenty of drama. Perry was suspended after the backstage altercation with CM Punk, which eventually led to Punk being fired by AEW.
Jack Perry last wrestled on the May 27 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he lost to Mark Davis in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. Since then, fans have been waiting to see what happens next with him.
For now, nothing has been officially announced, but Tony Khan sure sounds like he wants Jack Perry to stay put. AEW has invested a lot in him over the years, and Khan’s comments make it really clear that the company still sees him as part of its future.
