WWE Night of Champions took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with the King of the Ring tournament coming to an end. The winner earned the crown and a world championship match at SummerSlam, so this match had a lot of attention.
The tournament started in the first episodes of RAW and SmackDown in June, with every first-round matchup contested as a Fatal 4-Way Match. Oba Femi defeated Penta, Solo Sikoa, and Carmelo Hayes before beating Dominik Mysterio in the semifinals, while Jey Uso advanced by defeating LA Knight, Finn Bálor, and Royce Keys before overcoming Je’Von Evans to reach the finals.
King of the Ring has been one of WWE’s most prestigious tournaments since it debuted in 1985, with past winners including Don Muraco, Harley Race, Ted DiBiase, Tito Santana, Bret Hart (twice), Mabel, Steve Austin, Triple H, Ken Shamrock, Billy Gunn, Kurt Angle, Edge, Brock Lesnar, Booker T, William Regal, Sheamus, Wade Barrett, Bad News Barrett, Baron Corbin, Xavier Woods, Gunther, Cody Rhodes, and the 2026 winner. Now it was time to crown a new king.
This match kicked off the 2026 Night of Champions event, as Jey Uso had the entire crowd yeeting away. Then it was time for The Ruler to make his way out to ear-shattering chants of his name. The match got started slowly as the two finalists felt each other out. Then it was time for action the moment that they locked up.
They kept going until Jey Uso nailed his Uso Splash for not even a one count. Then Oba Femi returned fire with a chokeslam for a near fall. They kept going after that, with Uce fighting an uphill battle the whole time. Jey was able to rally and hit another Uso Splash, but he wasn’t able to get the pinfall, so he climbed up again to hit another for a near fall. Then Oba Femi fired back with a few power moves before hitting a Fall From Grace for the win.
Oba Femi is now heading to a title match at SummerSlam as the 25th King of the Ring. Only time will tell how things pan out. WWE SummerSlam 2026 will take place over two nights, Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
