Canyon Lux Era: is this the future of XC race bikes?

On Tuesday, Canyon announced a new 32-inch XC race bike protype: the Canyon Lux Era, an XC race bike with a more aero position than that of most modern mountain bikes. It comes with a biplane cockpit, inverted fork, and integrated ride computer.

Canyon claims that the biplane cockpit “offers a safer way for the rider to get in a lower, more aerodynamic position,” in addition to multiple hand positions, while the inverted fork supposedly has “better structural rigidity, sharper handling, and better braking stability,” as well as some aerodynamic benefit.

This concept bike will remain exactly that for the foreseeable future; however, Canyon says that they will be testing the bike in races or race simulations over the next 12 months.

With Eurobike Trade Show taking place from June 24th to June 27th in Frankfurt, Germany, many brands are releasing new products and announcing exciting prototypes.

Cam McCaul signs with Revel Bikes

After 22 years with Trek Bicycles, Cam McCaul has signed with Colorado-based Revel Bikes. McCaul will be riding the Revel Ritual and the Revel Ranger.

The partnership comes at a time in the bike industry when there is a lot of movement. “We were both focused on building something for the long haul, for the right reasons, and making sure we were genuinely aligned around sharing the stoke, building community, and bringing more people into mountain biking,” Revel Bikes founder Adam Miller says.

In addition to an impressive riding career, McCaul works as a broadcast commentator for the Crankworx World Tour, Red Bull Rampage, and other freeride events, meaning that he has quite a bit of street cred and over 144 thousand Instagram followers. It appears that Revel hopes McCaul will be able to help them increase their consumer base as they expand internationally, and push their bikes to new limits.

Orbea launches the Wild TR with 120 Nm of torque

Following their Wild LT launch last week, Orbea has announced the Wild TR which features the updated Bosch Performance Line CX motor that now has 120 Nm of torque and a peak power output of 750W. With a 64.5° head angle, a 78° seat tube angle, and 150mm of travel, Orbea claims that the Wild TR “delivers the confidence, versatility and reliability riders need to tackle everything from local loops to full-day mountain adventures.”

It comes in a couple of different options that can be configured using MyO (Orbea’s Customization tool); for instance, riders can choose either a 600Wh or 750Wh battery, select different paint colours, and swap out key components. For those who want to be able to do an extra lap, it will be compatible with the 250Wh Powermore Range Extender. The aluminum models will start at around $5,512 USD / $7,845 CAD while the carbon models begin at roughly $7,717 USD / $10,983 CAD.

Cannondale to shut down Cannondale Factory Racing

After more than 30 years of supporting cross-country racing, Cannondale Factory Racing team has announced that this will be the last season for the team. They are planning to move towards what appears to be a ambassador program called Cannondale Rogues. In their press release, they say that this program “will bring together professional racers, content creators, community leaders, and emerging voices… a roster larger and more varied than a traditional factory race team.”

Although they will still be supporting road cycling teams EF and St. Michel’s, the fate of their phenomenal XC roster has yet to be announced. This means that Jolanda Neff, Luca Martin, Charlie Aldridge, Cole Punchard, and Ana Santos will likely be trying to piece together new contracts for 2027 and beyond.
