The WWE United States Championship was on the line at Night of Champions as Trick Williams defended his title against Ricky Saints. The match came after weeks of tension involving Saints, Carmelo Hayes, and the reigning champion.
The rivalry started when Saints accidentally cost Hayes a non-title match against Williams, kicking off a series of fights between the former friends. After finally defeating Hayes in a No. 1 Contender’s Match on the final SmackDown before Night of Champions, Saints earned his shot at the United States Championship.
Williams entered the match looking to continue his reign, while Saints was chasing the biggest singles victory of his WWE career. With both men carrying plenty of momentum into Riyadh, the stage was set for a hard-fought championship battle.
Lil Yachty made the trip to Saudi Arabia to accompany Trick Williams to the ring. Fans were behind Trick from the beginning as Ricky Saints sold for the champion. Then Saints was able to fake an attack from the Grammy Award nominee, and Yachty was ejected from ringside. After that, Ricky Saints rallied on Williams for a bit.
Trick Williams didn’t let Ricky Saints end the match, and then he started to put his lemon pepper steppers to work. After a Book End, Saints kicked out at two. Then Trick Williams continued to pick his opponent apart.
Ricky Saints nailed a Revolution Tornado DDT and a big elbow for a near fall. Trick Williams stayed in the match as he continued to absorb Saints’ offense. Suddenly, Williams nailed the Trick Shot for the win to retain his title. It was over quickly, but Williams only needed one move. After the match was over, Lil Yachty returned to whack Saints with his kendo stick, and then he hit a People’s Elbow before celebrating with Trick.
