With Carlos Mendoza being fired, the Mets under interim manager Andy Green finally won a game. They sit 15 games out of first place with a 35-48 record in the NL East standings, which has seen a resurgence in the Phillies since Don Mattingly took over as skipper.
Not panning out to what it was supposed to be, the Mets had their eye on a run into October, which is pretty much null and void at this point of the season. As I’ve written previously, the question is at the trade deadline, will they be sellers, which would make sense? At times, the young guns on the team have shown promise, but it doesn’t seem to be enough to at least salvage the season. It has been tough this year to watch them, but hopefully their future is bright.
Until then, see you at the park.
